인도네시아 중부 자바 , 마겔랑 지방 근처 (near Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia) 의 보도부드르 (Borobudur) 에 9세기 대승불교 기념비인 한 불교 신의 우상을 한 남자가 오르고 있는 1895년 수제-착색한 환등 슬라이드 (hand-tinted lantern slide) 입니다. 이 기념상은 3개의 환형 대를 상단에 둔 6대의 정방 대좌로 구성되어 있고, 2,672 개의 부조 화판과 504 개의 불상으로 구성되어 있습니다. 이 기념비는 석가모니(Lord Buddha, 싯다르타 고타마) 의 성지이면서 동시에 불교 성지 순례의 장소입니다. 보도부드르는 14세기 불교의 쇄퇴와 자바 섬 내 힌두 왕국, 자바 섬 사람들의 이슬람교 개종에 관한 기록이 있습니다. 이 기념비는 유네스코 세계 유산 (UNESCO World Heritage Site) 이며, 이 나라에서 가장 유명한 관광지입니다.

A man climbs a statue of a Buddhist idol at Borobudur, a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist monument near Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia, in this 1895 hand-tinted lantern slide. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. Evidence suggests Borobudur was abandoned following the 14th-century decline of Buddhist and Hindu kingdoms in Java, and the Javanese conversion to Islam. The monument is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the most popular tourist attraction in the country.
