국제우주정거장 (International Space Station) 에서 본 에베레스트 산이 걸쳐있는 히말리야 산맥(Himalayan mountain range)의 모습입니다. 히말리야 산맥은 인도와 남부 및 남서 티베트 고원 (현재는 중국에 지배를 받고 있습니다.) 에 있는 파키스탄의 북부지방을 가릅니다. 여기 사진에서 세계에 있는 14개의 8천고지의 산들 중에 4개의 산을 볼 수 있으며, 이들 산 이름은 마칼루 (8462m), 에베레스트 (8850m), 로체 (8516m) 와 초오유 (8201m) 입니다.

The Himalayan mountain range with Mount Everest as seen from the International Space Station. The Himalaya separates India and the Northern Areas of Pakistan on the south and southwest from the vast Tibetan plateau (now ruled by China) on the north. Four of the world's fourteen eight-thousanders, mountains higher than 8000 m, can be seen, Makalu (8462 m), Everest (8850 m), Lhotse (8516 m) and Cho Oyu (8201 m).
