An illustration of a Victorian production of Act V, scene vii, from William Shakespeare's The Life and Death of King John, a history play that dramatises the reign of King John of England. King John was once one of Shakespeare's most frequently staged plays, but its popularity has decreased over the years and stagings of it today are very rare.
