윌리엄 셰익스피어(William Shakespeare)의 연극인 겨울 이야기(The Winter's Tale) 의 2장 3막의 삽화로써, 시실리아의 왕으로 그녀의 부인인 헤르미오네(Hermione)가 그의 어린시절 친구인 폴릭세네스(Polixenes) 간에 불륜을 저지르고 서출의 딸을 낳았다는 것을 증명하는 레온테스의 이야기를 설명합니다. 이 이야기는 로버트 그린(Robert Greene) 의 판도스토(Pandosto) 작품에서 가져온 것이나, 행복하게 끝나는 걸로 바뀌었습니다.

An illustration for Act II, Scene 3 of William Shakespeare's play The Winter's Tale, which recounts the story of Leontes, King of Sicilia, who becomes convinced that his wife Hermione and his childhood friend Polixenes have committed adultery and have borne an illegitimate daughter. The plot was taken from Robert Greene's Pandosto, but given a happy ending instead.
