시스티나 경당은 성스러운 예배당이고, 1475년에서 1483년 사이 식투스 4세 델라 로베레의 시기에 새워진 바티칸의 가장 유명한 예술 보물들중에 하나입니다. 이 예배당은 전세계에 사람들에게 콘클라베 (교황 선거) 와 같은 기밀행사나 교황 대관식과 같이 공개적인 행사 모두 열리며, 미켈란젤로에 의해 꾸며져 있는 곳으로 알려져 있습니다. 여기에 그려져 있는 그림들의 주제는 역사적인 종교적인 테마를 가지고 있습니다. 여기에서 미켈란젤로는 12 점의 작품에만 참여했지만, 사도들, 실제로 작품이 완성되었을 때는 3,000 점이 넘었습니다.

The Sistine Chapel is a religious chapel and one of the most famous artistic treasures of the Vatican, built between 1475 and 1483, in the time of Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere. The chapel is known worldwide both for being the hall in which conclaves and other official ceremonies are held, including some papal coronations, and for having been decorated by Michelangelo. The subjects of the pictures were historical religious themes. Michelangelo was employed to paint only 12 figures, the Apostles, but when the work was finished there were more than 3,000.
